Recorded across a number of London studios in 1981, and Released in 1982, “Diamond” is Spandau’s second album and was released in March 1982 and marked a fun, funky pivot away from their pure synth-pop debut toward electro-funk and experimental art-rock - as the new romantic arms race got into full swing between them and Duran Duran with Rio.

The album featured the core band members Tony Hadley, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, Steve Norman, and John Keeble on various instruments and vocals. Production and additional contributions—including horn arrangements, brass, and photography—were handled by figures such as producer Richard James Burgess, Beggar and Co, David Baptiste, Nathaniel Augustin, Canute Welington, and Andy Earl.
