Car Button Cloth represents a distinct, darker turning point in the band's catalogue. It serves as a raw, introspective musical document of frontman Evan Dando's personal struggles, turbulent lifestyle, and subsequent stint in rehabilitation during the mid-90s. It was the band's final album for a full decade before their 2006 self-titled return
