Medicine is the fifth studio album by the enigmatic Swedish psychedelic rock collective Goat. The record trades heavier, frantic sounds for a mellower, introspective, and heavily flute-driven psych-folk vibe. Its core theme tackles the impermanence of life, sickness, love, and death, acting as a spiritual remedy for existential angst.
Taking heavy inspiration from 1970s Swedish progg and folk, George Harrison's solo work, and even medieval pagan folk, the album blends hypnotic acoustic instrumentation with sitars, tribal rhythms, and fuzzed-out guitar solos. Tracks like "Impermanence & Death" and "Tripping In The Graveyard" use breathy woodwinds to create a trance-inducing, communal atmosphere, while tracks such as "Join The Resistance" burst into heavy, Sabbath-esque riffing.
