Syd Barrett -The Madcap Laughs - 1LP 180g vinyl, 2014 Reissue of 2010 Remaster in gatefold sleeve.

£23.00

Syd Barrett -The Madcap Laughs - 1LP 180g heavyweight 2014 Reissue utilising the 2010 Remaster, in gatefold sleeve.

The Madcap Laughs is the raw, haunting, and fragile debut solo album by Cambridge and England singer-songwriter Syd Barrett, released in January 1970. Recorded after Barrett left Pink Floyd amidst severe mental health struggles and heavy drug use. The album is widely viewed as a deeply intimate, unfiltered audio document of a brilliant mind fracturing at the edges.

The album took over a year to piece together, with sessions running from mid-1968 til July 1969. Five different producers were credited—including Barrett himself, Peter Jenner, Malcolm Jones, and former bandmates David Gilmour and Roger Waters—who stepped in to try and corral Barrett's unpredictable workflow.

Unvarnished Take: Rather than hiding mistakes, the final cuts often leave in false starts, tuning adjustments, and studio chatter, heightening the emotional and fragile immediacy of the tracks.

The 2010 remastering project was a major overhaul of Barrett's catalogue overseen by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and engineered at Astoria Studios.
